POSITION DESCRIPTION
MI-Connection, a local provider of voice/data/CATV services headquartered in Mooresville NC, is accepting applications for a position in Network Engineering. A B.S. Degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering is desired.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS
- IP/Ethernet data network architecture, protocols, and equipment
- HFC, RF, and optical network design
- DOCSIS and CMTS network operations
- CATV headend and digital systems
- CLASS 5 packet telephony and VoIP
- SONet/RPR transport systems
- FCC compliance for telephony and CATV operations
- Linux operating systems and open source software
- Java, XML, AJAX, and *nix scripting"
Experience in DOCSIS and CMTS network design and operations is preferred. Must be able to fully and independently manage projects within design/budget/time constraints, troubleshoot problems on converged networks, install complex network systems, and perform under high pressure circumstances. Must be able to communicate clearly and accurately with MI-Connection personnel and vendors, and have good customer relationship skills. May be required to work overtime and after normal business hours for network maintenance and special projects.
