MI-Connection Names Miller
General Manager of New Cable, Internet Company

MOORESVILLE, N.C. – James R. Miller, Jr. has been named general manager of MI-Connection, the new cable and Internet company that will serve more than 10,500 customers in Mooresville, Davidson and Cornelius.

Miller joins the MI-Connection team with extensive operations management experience in the telecommunications realm, including field operations, construction and maintenance of outside facilities, and installation activities. His office will be located at 435 South Broad St., Mooresville.

“MI-Connection is an exciting venture for our area, and we’re pleased to have someone with Jim’s expertise leading the effort,” says Evan Webster, chairman, MI-Connection Board of Directors. “His vast knowledge and experience will ensure smooth implementation as we move ahead with the latest technology in telecommunication services for our customers in the three towns we serve.  And he’ll prove even more valuable in the months and years to come when we implement exciting new changes and more advanced services.”

Miller most recently served as operations/project manager at Edwards Telecommunications, Inc. based in Columbia, S.C., and he was technical/operations manager and plant manager with Charter Communications. In a career spanning more than two decades, Miller has built on his experience as an installer, technician, construction coordinator and installation supervisor to successfully manage multi-million dollar telecommunications expansions. He started out as a manager in his family’s business, responsible for accounts payable, inventory control, purchasing, financing accounts, collections and deliveries.

After graduating from Boiling Springs High School in Spartanburg, S.C., Miller completed installer technician and chief technician courses with the National Cable Television Institute, the Telecable Special Training Program-Part I with the Cleveland Institute of Electronics, and “Continuous Improvement” telecable management training using the Deming method of management to track data for procedure improvement.

“I have been impressed with the progressive thinking of the town leaders who have created a company like MI-Connection,” says Miller. “Our team will be working diligently to launch state-of-the-art, affordable cable, Internet and telephone options to the people in Mecklenburg and Iredell counties. Our emphasis is on providing exceptional local customer service because we know our customers well and can respond quickly to their every need.”

Miller and his wife, Meleia, have two children, ages 19 and 15.
